Today is the day, We fly out to our second home the Explorers Hotel Magne le Hongre and of course our week in the magic of Disneyland Paris. We decided this trip to take the later flight with Ryanair, therefore we could arrive at the hotel and get a decent nights sleep rather than hurtling straight to the park and returning after illuminations exhausted. What a plan it was we jumped up out of the comfortable bed the next morning and straight to the Plantation Restaurant for a delicious breakfast. This is one of the biggest points in choosing the hotel as a good breakfast sets you up for the remaining day of madness.
The shuttle buses are directly outside the hotel and its usually the last pick up on the line for the park. so its straight into the Train Station and the sights of Disneyland loom before your very eyes. The first thing you see is the array of colors that adorn the Village and of course the massive Tinkerbell on the Globe above the World of Disney shop. then the Tower of Terror hits your eye from the right, The sounds come around the corner of people screaming as the tower drops. The toot of the horn on the Riverboat is heard in the distance as well as the Click Clack of the first lift on Big Thunder Mountain.
All these sights and sounds crash over you like a wave on the North shore, the call of our People.
As pass holders we walk against the flow of people leaving the Park for the Studios and enter to the Left of the wondrous Disneyland Hotel.
The cast member at the turnstile greets us with a really warm and wonderful welcome that starts our day.
First port of call is usually a toilet pit stop before going into City Hall to get our tickets printed for the Parade Infinity Viewing area and also the Illuminations. Anyone that travels to DLP will know what I mean when I say the smell of Main Street wafts along as we stroll to take in the sights and sounds, there had been a few changes since our last trip so its always nice to note these as you walk along beaming like an idiot.
We instinctively turn left and head into Frontierland, The red stone mesa takes over the view as the train carriages hurtle along at break neck speed. We are awaiting the finished refurb on our beloved Phantom Manor which is extremly exciting. We get our first fast pass for the trip for BTM and we head back around into Adventureland through the Bazaar and out beside the most beautiful castle in any of the Disney resorts. Sleeping Beauty's Castle really is a sight, With her Imposing height and intricate and ornate turret's. Its always eye catching and a pleasure to view from any angle.
Of course the day is heating up so we decide to head over to Victorias to sample the new range of milkshakes and ice teas. We are the only ones sitting inside and when i say the air con was cool I felt like Olaf, The girls all Had various flavored shakes, at €10 a pop i have to say they are worth the indulgence. I had the Peach Iced Tea which cooled me down perfectly.
We then went into Fantasy land and down to Its a Small World, we do this ride daily as its a fantastic way to chill before going for the bigger ones.
We basically Replicated the day nearly every day of the trip, Europe was in the grip of a heatwave so we alternated early park hours and then going to one of the air-conditioned shows before going to the pool, we also came down to the parks after the heat had gone below 30 degrees Celsius.
Our favourite dining was in the Cowboy Cookout where we got the new Sheriff Menu. Its actually great value at €16.99 with your chicken, ribs, sausage fries drink and Pecan pie. If there are only two people dining get one with an extra fries and drink. Both of you will eat for approx €20.
Im not going to bore you with the every waking moment of the trip all I'll say is from when we stepped into Terminal 1 in Dublin airport to when we arrived back it really was a magical time.
Cant wait to go again soon.
